Welcome to Comfort Forest — a world of folk music and small woodland creatures living slow, beautiful lives in an ancient forest by the sea.
Inspired by the wild coastal landscapes of Britain and Ireland, and the great tradition of English illustration and storytelling, Comfort Forest is a place apart. Somewhere unhurried. Somewhere the kettle is always on.
Comfort Forest sits between the river and the shore. There are hedgerows running along its edges. There is a woodland floor thick with moss and old paths. It is not marked on any map. It has always been exactly where it is. Its inhabitants keep house. They tend gardens. They pass down what they know by fireside and by hand.
The music is played close and unhurried. There is fiddle, flute, harp, cello. There are occasional wordless voices, calling and answering like something half-remembered. It is folk and Celtic music, chosen for its warmth and beauty.
The art is watercolour and ink, in the tradition of illustrators like Arthur Rackham and Beatrix Potter. It is soft and detailed. It is a little worn at the edges, like something found in an old book.
Come in. Rest a while.
Comfort Forest is created by the English storyteller and illustrator Fern Rose.
