Dear Comfort Forest Family,

There’s a particular kind of quiet that settles over a Comfort Forest cottage on a rainy afternoon… kettle on, rain against the windows, nowhere to be. That’s how Finley and Bluebird have been living this week, and today, we finally get to share it with them.

This one means a little more than usual. For the first time, Finley picked up not just his fiddle but his voice. He’s singing for all of us. These are the ancient fox songs he sings to himself when he’s alone, and he hopes we will sing along and love them as he does. He’d been asking Bluebird for days whether it would be all right. I think the answer, in the end, is yes. Absolutely more than all right.

Over the hour and eighteen minutes, we’ll follow Finley and Bluebird as they spend the day close to home, shelter under an umbrella as the rain falls, have a snack, do some quiet writing, play violin, sing, take a walk down to the sea and back, and finally, rest together by the cozy fire.

Finley was nervous the whole week. He sang anyway. I think we can all learn something from that.
